Driver Fatigue

  • Fatigue is a factor in about 20% of fatalities on NSW roads

Here are some tell-tale signs of fatigue. If you feel like this you are driving TOO TIRED!

  • loss of concentration
  • drowsiness
  • yawning
  • slow reactions
  • feeling irritable and restless
  • making fewer and larger steering corrections
  • missing road signs
  • having difficulty staying in the lane when driving
  • 'micro-sleeps'


To avoid a fatigue related crash:

  • Get a good night sleep before hand
  • Don't drive when you'd normally sleep
  • Avoid Long drinks after work
  • Take breaks often
  • Share the driving
  • Pull over and stop when drowsy
